Google Expands Access to Popular Veo 3 Video Model Through Gemini App
Google Expands Access to Veo 3 via Gemini Application
Google has recently broadened the accessibility of its innovative video generation tool, Veo 3, through the Gemini application. This expansion allows users in 71 new countries to utilize Veo 3 just 100 hours after its initial release. However, it's important to note that this rollout does not yet include countries within the European Union. The announcement was made by Josh Woodward, Vice President of Gemini, on the X platform.
Subscription Options for Users
Currently, Gemini Pro users can take advantage of a one-time offer that allows them to generate up to 10 videos using Veo 3. For those who opt for the Gemini Ultra subscription, priced at $250 per month, the benefits are significantly enhanced. Ultra subscribers can access 125 generation opportunities each month in the specialized Flow mode designed for AI film creation. In contrast, Pro users are limited to just 10 generations.

“The camera follows a dachshund as it runs through the living room, dashes out the open front door, and arrives at the porch. It stands at the top of the stairs, surveying the surroundings as an ice cream truck passes by.”

Current Limitations of Veo 3
Despite its rapid adoption, Veo 3 does have some restrictions. At present, it only supports access through the Gemini Pro web interface, and audio output is defaulted to English, with support for other languages being inconsistent. Notably, users cannot enable voice output after uploading images in Flow mode.
Community Response and Concerns
Veo 3 has garnered significant attention within the AI community due to its impressive quality of audiovisual generation. Users are actively sharing video demonstrations on social media, praising the tool's remarkable accuracy in responding to prompts. However, the technology has also raised serious concerns. Some users have showcased how Veo 3 can be utilized to create fictitious interview content for imaginary shows. Experts warn that if misused, such technology could easily generate misleading content, including fabricated protest footage and fictional event videos, posing a potential threat to the integrity of information ecosystems.
The introduction of Veo 3 underscores the dual-edged nature of generative AI. On one hand, it pushes the boundaries of creative expression and content production; on the other, it simplifies the creation of seemingly authentic misinformation. What once required extensive time and technical expertise for deepfakes can now be accomplished with a simple prompt.
As AI video generation rapidly becomes mainstream, the importance of verifying the sources of visual content has never been more critical.
